The Israel Defense Forces have responded to an incident in which the commander of a Golani Brigade reconnaissance battalion ordered religious soldiers serving under him to shave their beards even though they had the proper permits, saying, "The case was handled by the commanders and the soldiers will exercise their right to be exempted according to the orders."
The IDF statement continued, "The procedures on this matter were fine tuned in the unit."
