The Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Culture and Higher Education is condemning what it calls the "despicable crime of forgery" carried out by the Jerusalem Municipality in the PA curriculum. In a statement issued by the PA's official Wafa news agency, the Ministry of Education stressed that a PA religious ruling on September 20th forbade the use of the Israeli curriculum in Arab schools, and that this fatwa is valid today.
PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam called on educators to oppose Israeli policy, saying that "the falsification and distortion of national curricula in Jerusalem" reveal Israel's true intention to wipe out national history and heritage from the next generations. He sent a letter to the director of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization office in "Palestine" in which he complained about Israeli policy in the field of education and urged him to act on this issue.
