The Knesset has approved the final readings of an amendment to the Magen David Adom Law to obligate hospitals to give the emergency service the details of a person evacuated by an MDA ambulance within 14 days of the evacuation when it is not possible to clarify the patient's personal details with him at the time due to his medical condition.
The goal is for MDA to be able to ascertain whether the patient is entitled to cover the payment by the HMO within a reasonable period of time, thus saving bureaucracy and hassle from the patient and his family, and preventing them from accumulating debts over amounts that have not been submitted.
