While Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot of the Israel Defense Forces says the humanitarian situation in Gaza is on the verge of collapse and the chances of fighting with its Hamas rulers are rising, Gaza rehabilitation should be conditioned on resolving the issue of Israelis being held by Hamas in Gaza, according to News 2.

Speaking to the cabinet, Eizenkot separated important humanitarian aid from rebuilding Gaza. The chief of staff made it clear that Israeli civilians and the bodies of soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul should come before rehabilitation efforts, meaning that the IDF would not lend a hand for rehabilitation before the issue was resolved.
