The new Pisga project of the Israel Defense Forces Medical Corps seeks to station a nurse (without regard to gender) in every military clinic in a few years, out of the understanding that there is a national need to train nurses and that placing them in each clinic will improve the medical response given to IDF soldiers. The track includes an increase in the number of students from about thirty a year to about one hundred and twenty per year with particularly attractive conditions, including financing of studies, financing of dormitories and other assistance.

In addition, the cadets will be required to sign on for permanent service a year and a half (instead of three years as in the past). Those who are suitable will have the option of continuing to a military career as a nurse or to be released with significant professional experience. As part of the revolution, the nurses will receive authority to administer treatment and be able to identify urgent medical cases and intervene in real time. Their authority will include the granting of exemptions, referrals for continued treatment and sick days.
