King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Monday and stressed that his country would do all in its power to help the PA establish a state within the 1967 borders with eastern Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting took place before the king issued a statement in which he called on the international community to "fulfill its responsibility" toward the Arab population in Jerusalem. He added that Jerusalem is "the key to achieving peace and stability in the region."
