The State Attorney's Office has informed the Family Court in Petach Tikvah that it has agreed to the request of 17 families of Yemenite Jews to issue orders to open graves and carry out genetic tests for family ties between them and the remains of bodies found in the graves.

The move is in connection with probes into the disappearance of hundreds of children of Yemenite immigrants between 1948 and 1954. It should be noted that the move was approved by the Committee for the Dignity of the Dead on behalf of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, subject to the fulfillment of halakhic (Jewish legal) conditions.
