The Environment Ministry says that in the last few hours high concentrations of particles have been measured due to the winds bringing dust from North Africa towards Israel.
The winds also caused sandstorms in the Negev region. The haze will recede in all regions except for the Negev where there will be a gradual improvement overnight.
Friday will see heavy air pollution in the southern region where rain is not expected.
