An indictment was filed at the Petach Tikvah Magistrates Court against Dayanim Shimon Guttman, Yeshayahu Feldman, Eliyahu Goldberg of the Hayosher Vehatzedek independent private religious court in Elad and Eliezer Davidson, the court secretary, for threats of joint action and disruption of court proceedings.
The case stems from an action brought by an Elad woman against a neighbor to the magistrates court. The neighbor responded with a petition to Hayosher Vehatzedek. The criminal indictments relate to pressure by the Hayosher Vehatzedek officers against the woman who went to the magistrates court to cancel that action and try the case at the religious court even though both sides must agree. The pressure escalated to threats and a "refusal letter" which caused social and community damage to the complainant.
