A new orthopedic wing was dedicated this week at Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva'. It includes two outpatient departments, a pediatric orthopedics unit, surgery rooms, an orthopedic emergency room and one of the largest ambulatory systems in Israel.
The unit represents half of an estimated five-million-shekel donation from the estate of Arad educators and community activists Amatzia and Ilana Katz. Amatzia was a patient in the orthopedic wing and Ilana was a patient in the oncology department. The other half of the donation was spent on the purchase of a linear accelerator for the Cancer Center, which is intended for radiation therapy.
