National Emergency Authority head retiring

Reserves Brigadier General Bezalel Treiber, the head of the National Emergency Authority, has informed Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman that he intends to retire at the age of 67 during 2018. The exact date will be finalized in the coming weeks.

Treiber joined the Ministry of Defense in 2005 in order to establish the Land Crossings Authority and in 2009 he was appointed Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Defense and Head of the Operations and Assets Division. In 2014, a month before Operation Protective Edge, Treiber was appointed to head the National Emergency Authority (NEA), which is responsible for preparing the civilian space for emergencies. In his position, Treiber led many processes, including the rehabilitation and strengthening of the communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip, the formulation of a national plan for the evacuation of populations from conflict zones and advancement of government preparedness for emergency situations and earthquakes.
