The Likud party fumed after State Comptroller Yosef Shapira fined the faction NIS 350,000 for allegedly breaching campaign finance laws due to its support of the 'Likudiada' confab in Eilat. Shapira contended that the event gave the Likud free advertising and support.

"The Likudiada is a private event run by private businessmen," said the Likud in a statement. "We will appeal this ruling in the upcoming days".
