The Knesset has approved the first reading of an amendment ot the Basic Law: Government - the delegation of authority to the Deputy Minister.
It would allow an office in which the prime minister serves as a minister to delegate the statutory powers vested in the minister to a deputy minister. It is viewed as applying to former health minister Yaakov Litzman, whose United Torah Judaism party has opposed its members acting as ministers.
