Chairman Eitan Cabel of the Knesset Economics Committee said on Monday that Israel must start dealing with the business behavior of international Internet giants, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft and others. He opened a committee meeting on the subject by saying that two years ago he had identified the tremendous influence that these companies had on the Israeli communications market, where the crisis has only deepened. He added that the problems did not suddenly break into our lives, and the whole world began to deal with the issue and it was time to do so here too.

Cabel said, "I do not want to prevent Google and Facebook from running in Israel, but you have to find the balancing point. The world woke up when the leadership began to feel that it was coming. There is no doubt that the US elections were a turning point and a wake-up call. There are questions that must be answered immediately and the key is with what ideas will we reach the government and what tools will we give the public to deal with the reality."
