A special delegation from France, headed by Rabbi Yosef Amar, director of the Chabad House in the Seine-et-Marne (Department 77) area east of Paris, has presented about 50 soldiers with a gift of tefillin and Shabbat candlesticks.
The donors heard that a few months ago a devastating fire broke out at a Border Police base in central Israel, and dozens of soldiers lost their tefillin and were unable to purchase a new pair. During the presentation ceremony at the Davidson facility of the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem, Rabbi Amar spoke about gratitude toward the soldiers who serve as a shield for the residents of Israel, and elaborated on the deep ties between the Jews of France and the soldiers.
