The parents of Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, whose body has been held by Hamas in Gaza since 2014's Protective Edge counterterror operation, have criticized the government's decision to renew the supply of electricity to Gaza, saying, "The Israeli government, headed by [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu and cabinet ministers, chose today to surrender to Hamas again, and did not condition the return of the regular supply of electricity to Gaza on the return of soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin [to Israel]."
The Goldins added, "It is folly that the State of Israel repeatedly abandons the soldiers it sent to battle." They continued, "Our position is clear. We must stipulate and set conditions for every humanitarian move that Israel and the international community are promoting opposite the Gaza Strip with an immediate solution to the return home of Oron and Hadar. The Israeli government must demand - humanitarian [steps] for humanitarian [steps]."
