The initiator of the Jerusalem law, Jewish Home faction head Shuli Mualem-Rafaeli responded to Palestinian rage over the authorization of the law.
Mualem-Rafaeli said that "The fact that the Palestinians are fuming demonstrates that we did the right thing: We legislated a law protecting Jerusalem from dubious diplomatic initiatives. Besides the important practical ramifications of this law, there is a clear statement that Jerusalem is united and will stay the eternal capital of the Jewish people. The fact that the Palestinians will not accept this proves that there is nobody there to talk to."
