Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman referred Thursday to claims that it is already possible to sentence terrorists to death and there is no need for new legislation on the matter.
Liberman wrote on his Facebook page that "the death sentence is designed to punish and to deter. As long as a majority of the cabinet as well as the Attorney-General oppose a change in policy on the matter of the death sentence for terrorists, the only way to pass the sentence will be through legislation. The claims against this don't correspond with my simple logic."
