The Council for Cable and Satellite Broadcasting decided at its meeting today to postpone discussion of the approval of news broadcasts on the channel dedicated to Israeli heritage (Channel 20). The Council decided to hold the discussion at its next meeting (which is currently planned to take place in two weeks), taking into consideration the conclusion of a check of the channel's compliance with its licensing provisions, which will begin in the next few days, and taking into consideration the process of amending the law.

The Council once again called upon the Minister of Communications and Members of the Knesset to urgently amend the regulation currently in force in the Law for dedicated channels, which does not correspond with market conditions that have changed beyond recognition. The Council also emphasized the urgent need to amend legislation to regulate the television market in general, including new audio and visual transmitters, which operates under impossible and outdated rules.
