Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz said on Tuesday morning that Israel needs to prevent a round of violence against Hamas "as long as we can". Interviewed by Yediot Ahronot, Katz said, "The policy is very clear: There is no firing [at Israel]. There is no firing that has no response. In my assessment, Hamas has understood the message," and the assessment is that Hamas wants to stop the shooting [by other terror groups in Gaza].

Katz added, "The Israeli policy is to deter, to prepare in the sky and to improve Iron Dome more and more, to find a unique solution in the world to the tunnel threat by advanced technologies and other means. We are advancing a lot. Hamas has also understood that this weapon is going to come off the table in a term not far from now." He said the security tension surrounding Gaza following United States President Donald Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will not last long.
