A huge demonstration of about 1,500 employees of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, their families and supporters is scheduled for 1:00 pm outside the the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem, when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with the company's CEO, Kare Schultz.

Chairman Avi Nissenkorn of the Histadrut Labor Federation emphasized that "the government and the Teva management are responsible for the fate of the workers in the company and the future of the local industry. This is a testing time for the entire Israeli economy and the parties involved must invest their efforts in order to solve the crisis."

He concluded, "The most important message is that layoffs are a last resort. The government must restore hope to Teva workers and we are all united behind their important struggle - it is a struggle by all Israeli citizens for the social face of the state."
