As expected, the United States has vetoed a resolution by Egypt at the United Nations Security Council that calls on “all States to refrain from the establishment of diplomatic missions in the Holy City of Jerusalem,” and demands that countries “comply with Security Council resolutions regarding the Holy City of Jerusalem, and not to recognize any actions or measures contrary to those resolutions.”
The resolution was introduced in reaction to the recent US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
