The Political-Security Cabinet has decided to accept the recommendations and conclusions of the "Committee to Examine the Stability of the Alternatives for Importing Ammonia into Israel (in the Near Term), in Security Criteria Relating to Routine Times."
The committee's work was a result of the closing of Haifa's big ammonia storage tank due to environmental and safety concerns. The cabinet decided to accept the committee's security preference for the alternative of importing ammonia by means of a small direct-injection vessel. It should be noted that the representatives of the Haifa municipality and the Tzalul organization chose to resign from the committee after the conclusion of its work and before its conclusions were submitted to the cabinet since they objected to its recommendations and conclusions.
