Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu and held a series of discussions with Economics Minister Eli Cohen and Histadrut director Avi Nissenkorn as well as Teva directors in Jerusalem in an attempt to prevent the decision to fire workers.
Barkat directed official echelons in the municipality and the Jerusalem Development Authority to work together to aid the workers as required.
Barkat said that "I support the workers and stand by their side and we'll do all we can so that Teva workers in Israel and especially in Jerusalem will not pay the price for the crisis the company is experiencing."
