Chairman Naftali Bennett of the Jewish Home party called on Monday for maintaining the stability of the government, against the background of the disputes surrounding a bill to keep supermarkets closed on Shabbat. Speaking at the beginning of his party's Knesset-faction meeting, Bennett said, "We have a stable and good national government. We are doing extraordinary things in all the government ministries so I call on all my friends, the party leaders, to behave responsibly and not to climb unnecessary ladders from which it will be hard to come down later."

Bennett continued, "Every party leader must learn this includes subjects that are less convenient for him. That is the nature of a coalition. We have absorbed things that we do not always like but that is the nature of partnership, and we need responsibility and discretion in this matter."
