A Polish court has given a 17-year-old from the United States a suspended one-year sentence after he was arrested last July by one of the guides at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, while scrawling his name on the wall of one of the buildings.
According to a report by the Polish news agency, the judge expressed surprise that the act of vandalism was carried out by "a young man who studies in a religious school that is supposed to train future rabbis." The judge also imposed a $ 280 fine to be donated to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.
