The police's traffic department issued a new directive to policemen, stating that a policeman who sees a driver with his head inclined downwards and not looking at the road can issue a 500 NIS traffic ticket and six penalty points.

The directive comes in the wake of "the severe phenomenon of drivers making use of a phone on their legs, on the seat or in any other place which is not a legal device and their eyes are focused downwards and not on the road."

Police will be able to issue a ticket without seeing a telephone in his possession.
