A young boy who grew up as a Muslim celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at the Western Wall on Monday.

15 years ago, S, a young Jerusalem Jewess entered a romantic relationship with an Arab and moved to an Arab village. After suffering from violence which almost led to her death, S contacted Yad L'Achim and asked for help.

After a complex operation the organization managed to smuggle S and her son out of a hostile Arab village in Samaria and transferred them to a safe house. S submitted a complaint to police about her husband's violence and after he was imprisoned S gained sole custody of her sone.

S drew closer to her Jewish roots and her son began to study in a Talmud Torah and prepared for his Bar Mitzvah which took place at the Western Wall.

The boy's grandparents thanked Yad L'Achim profusely for all the help they have provided and in particular for organizing and funding the Bar Mitzvah and purchasing a set of Tefillin and festive clothes for the Bar Mitzvah boy
