Elbit Systems Australia signed a contract on Tuesday with the Australian Defense Ministry for continuation, expansion and upgrading of the communications, control and supervision systems of the Australian Army under its "Land 75/125" program.

Elbit, which employs about 100 engineers at several sites throughout Australia, is the primary contractor of the complex systems and supplies, installs, implements and supports these systems, from the level of the individual soldier to the level of the brigade headquarters for deployed infantry forces, armored personnel carriers and command rooms. The main importance of the system is its ability to significantly reduce the risk of injury from "friendly fire" (bilateral fire) by improving safety and coordination between the various forces of the Australian Army.
