Chairwoman Shuli Moalem-Refaeli of the Jewish Home Knesset faction told Arutz Sheva, Monday evening, that she is not moved by Treasurer Moshe Kahlon's stance against passage of a law to curb the advocacy of the Supreme Court. She said, "The Basic Law on Legislation, which is the next stage in regulating the relations between the Knesset and the government, is critical. This law will say something very clear - the government will rule, the Knesset will legislate and the judges will judge. If the judges have criticism of legislative processes - that is legitimate. If judges begin to put themselves at a place where they ask questions about the nature of laws, it is not their place."
Reminded by Arutz Sheva that Minister Kahlon spoke about this explicitly and asked, "Did not he mean it?" she said, "I propose taking this in the context that each of the coalition parties brings the legislation that is important to it, and we jointly promote processes that are in the best interests of Israeli society, and also allow for reaching agreements. Basic Law: Legislation will advance - I agree that they will have comments and it will have to be advanced by the consent of all the coalition factions."
