Chairman Avigdor Liberman of the Yisrael Beytenu party devoted the opening of the party's Knesset-faction meeting to the resignation of Health Minister Yaakov Litzman.

The defense minister said, "The most important thing for me is that the crisis surrounding the resignation of Health Minister Yaakov Litzman has ended and we have succeeded in maintaining the status quo. I think that it is clear to everyone that this is not the time for elections. The security situation is complex, fragile [and] tense, and dragging the entire country to early elections is the last thing the State of Israel needs."
