Deputy Mayor Dov Kalmanovich of Jerusalem, a member of the Shabbat Forum, believes that religious Zionism should also join the struggle over the nature of Shabbat in the State of Israel.
Interviewed by Arutz Sheva, Kalmanovich said, "The resignation of Minister Litzman puts the religious Zionists in a dilemma about how to relate to the value of the Sabbath, and everyone remembers how years ago a government fell here because the F-15s arrived on Saturday, a coalition crisis led by the heads of the National Religious Party [forerunner of Jewish Home -ed.], led by Dr. Yosef Burg, The national religious party led the Sabbath war and today it must join this struggle, although not according to Litzman's principles."
