In a letter to the Haaretz newspaper this morning, Member of Knesset Nava Boker has demanded an apology from editorialist and commentator Zvi Barel for the deliberate or accidental attribution to her of the statements: "He is the president of terrorists," and "He is a stinking traitor," in a Wednesday opinion piece about remarks directed against President Reuven Rivlin for his refusal to grant a pardon to Elor Azariya, who is serving a manslaughter sentence in the death of a wounded terrorist. The piece also accused her of saying, "He abandoned our soldiers on the battlefield."
In the letter, Boker said, "This is a malicious attempt to attribute to me humiliating statements that have never come out of my mouth." She added, "Haaretz has proved over the years that it misleads and feeds the public with words of slander and lies. As on many other occasions, when Haaretz and the Schocken chain have been forced to leave the courtrooms with their heads down, that's how it will be this time."
