The Ministerial Committee on Legislation rejected on Sunday a bill submitted by all members of the Yesh Atid faction, to toughen the punishment for those who attack soldiers, despite the fact that the measure aimed to protect soldiers and there is no budget requirement for its implementation.

Bill sponsor Yoel Razvozov slammed the decision, saying it was no less than a security failure and "It is shameful that a government headed by someone who calls himself 'Mr. Security' abandons IDF soldiers within the borders of the State of Israel." He added, "Instead of IDF soldiers walking proudly and with their heads up, there are soldiers who come home on leave in fear and in secret - for fear of being hurt. This unacceptable phenomenon of soldiers being attacked by citizens of the state must cease. That's why it's so sad that the Israeli government does nothing for it, and has not passed this law."
