Attorney Yoram Sheftel discussed on Channel 10 reports that Yigal Amir intends to request a retrial basing himself on a Swiss company.
Sheftel said that he had investigated the matter when he was asked to defend Amir's appeal and came to the conclusion that there was no way the conviction could be overturned.
He added that for a retrial to take place,new evidence which was not known to the accused and his lawyers during the trial would be required to be presented. The new evidence must be strong enough to overturn the original ruling.
Sheftel was extremely doubtful of the chances of attaining such evidence and did not see any such evidence surfacing in the present request for a retrial.
