A fourth straight year of drought with sparse rainfall has led to Israel purchasing millions of cubic meters of desalinated water as of Thursday. However water allocations for farmers in the North will not be cut despite the drought.
The state is expected to purchase 75 million cubic meters of water by the end of 2018, with 8 million cubic meters to be purchased already in 2017.
