Australians vote in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage

Australians have voted in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage in a non-binding referendum. 61.6% of people voted in favor of the move and about 79.5% of eligible voters took part in the eight-week survey.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the "overwhelming" result meant his government would aim to change the law in parliament within the next month.
