Student Union demands change in harassment courts

In a session which took place Monday at the Knesset State Control Committee, the National Student Union demanded changes to the courts which adjudicate sexual harassment in academic institutions. At present the courts are staffed by academic staff who sometimes have to deal with complaints against their colleagues.

Maayan Hajaj, student coordinator on sexual harassment, said that in order to increase transparency there is a need for students and other representatives on the campuses as well as public representatives to serve on the courts so that "the staff should not judge other staff."
