Convicted official sued for bribes he received

The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office has filed a lawsuit in the Jerusalem District Court, claiming 45,000 shekels from former inspections coordinator Zvi Avnon of the Israeli Civil Administration for Judea and Samaria Area, which he was convicted of receiving as bribes for advanced information on inspections at illegal quarrying sites.

The suit was filed as a result of the criminal proceeding in which Avnon was convicted as part of a plea bargain involving bribery, fraud and breach of trust. The court sentenced the defendant to a fine and six months in prison which can be run in public service.
