President Rivlin met on Monday with Mayor Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles. During their meeting, the two discussed the strong ties between Israel and the United States and the bold connection between cities in Israel and Los Angeles. The President invited the mayor to visit Israel for more in-depth knowledge of Israeli society.

The two discussed the regional situation, the Iranian establishment in Lebanon in particular and the region in general, and the red lines that the State of Israel has set in its policy of action against the recent security developments. At the end of their meeting, the mayor gave the president a skateboard with a special dedication that read: "To President Rivlin with love and friendship from Los Angeles, Israel's largest city, outside of Israel," referring to a large expatriate population. Rivlin laughed and promised to practice the use of the grandchildren together when he returned to Israel.

Later in the day, the president will meet with the leaders of the Jewish Federation of North America and will address their General Assembly early Tuesday morning, Israel Time.
