Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the Knesset on Monday, "Opposition members have been wanting me to resign from the day I took office. There is absolutely nothing new. Only the excuse has changed." Speaking as part of a discussion requested by 40 members, Netanyahu spoke about the achievements of his government, repeating words spoken to the Likud faction earlier that the social inequality index has fallen to its lowest level since 2001, noting that he took office in 2009.

Opposition leader Yitzhak Herzog told Netanyahu: "Let's see you ask your partners if they want elections. In the opinion of many in this building, you will not win. The public is fed up." Referring to 1977's groundbreaking visit of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, he attacked, "If you were prime minister 40 years ago, and Sadat would come to Israel, you would run away from dealing with him. You would be afraid to make peace with him. You're frightened of [Minister Naftali] Bennett, and of [Minister Ze'ev] Elkin. You are not capable of telling your truth."
