The Ministry of Health has announced rabies discovered in a cat in the community of Gan Ner and a jackal in the community of Gedona in the Gilboa Council Region.
The Ministry of Health requests that anyone who has been in contact with the infected animals or strays in the area or who has animals that might have come into contact with said animals to urgently contact the nearest health office to consider preventive treatment. After working hours and during the weekend, one should go to the emergency room in a hospital. The ministry also seeks to alert hikers and other visitors to the area. Parents are asked to clarify if children may have been in contact with suspicious animals. Pet owners are requested to contact their veterinarian to verify their immunization status.
