Classes in Bat Yam elementary schools will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday instead of 8:00, following serious violence against a teacher by a second grader.
Secretary-General Yaffa Ben-David of the Histadrut Hamorim teachers' union, said, "Violence is increasing every day and despite our repeated appeals, the state has not taken responsibility yet, and has not yet raised a national plan to eradicate violence." Calling on Minister of Education Naftali Bennett to convene all the parties in an urgent manner to formulate an emergency plan, she added, "In the coming days, we intend to indicate a series of steps until government officials understand the urgency of the issue."
