More than 800 soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces have signed a letter to Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot with their names and personal numbers, demanding the return of the Torah lesson that took place every Sunday at the Training Base City parking lot in the Negev until it was halted last month.
The letter credits Rabbi Peretz Einhorn with "softening the landing from the house to the military routine," adding, "The rabbi talks to us about values and morality, strengthens us to be professional and disciplined soldiers with moral values, magnanimous and welcoming." They say the lesson "makes us good soldiers, the soldiers you want to raise - soldiers with values, disciplined - and happy."
