9,000 tablets as well as powders and liquid bottles containing suspected fake medicines were discovered in customs centers during an international campaign to prevent smuggling of fake medicines which involved customs authorities, Interpol, the World Health Organization and the enforcement division of the Health Ministry.

Hundreds of packages were examined during the campaign, using advanced identification techniques such as the "Profiling System" of the Customs Authority. Suspicious packages were held and transferred to pharmacists working with customs workers during the campaign.
