In the wake of the official request by Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely to bring the remains of Rabbi Nahman of Breslov to Israel, Rabbi Aryeh Lipo, a Breslov hasid, related that Rabbi Ovadia Yosef strongly supported such a move.
When Rabbi Ovadia was asked whether to bring Rabbi Nahman's bones to Israel he answered: "Immediately! Absolutely! It's a mitzvah! Why do they go out of Israel?"
