Health Minister Yaakov Litzman(UTJ) has requested that the Knesset's Labor ,Welfare and Health committee approve a new directive regarding smoking in public places.
The new directive will prohibit smoking in places where open air performances are taking place. Typically such performances are very crowded. Smoking will be forbidden in all parts of hospitals, with the director of the hospital allocating one smoking area.
Hospitals will also provide assistance and aid to those patients who wish to give up smoking.
Smoking will also be prohibited at sports stadiums, amusement parks, covered and underground car parks and zoos, but zoo directors can allocate a smoking zone under certain conditions.
