A young mother called the switchboard for babies locked in cars on Monday when she was unable to open the car door. Jerusalem police arrived immediately, broke into the car in a few seconds and rescued the infant from the vehicle unharmed, according to Maariv.

Data from the Beterem organization for child safety shows that since 2008, 27 children have died from being forgotten or trapped in a car. In 2016 seven children died as a result, and in 2017 the death toll is three. In addition, the last nine years have seen 515 reported cases of children left or locked in a vehicle, in which 585 children were involved.
