Public Security and Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan expressed his opposition to the law banning police recommendations in criminal investigations which will be submitted to the Ministerial Legislative Committee Sunday.
Erdan stressed that police for a number of years have not recommended indicting the subjects of investigations. The new law would ban submitting the summaries of investigations to the State Prosecutor and Erdan feels this contradicts the work of the police.
However Erdan agreed that summaries of investigations should not be publicized since they may project a mistaken image of suspects before a qualified official has decided to present an indictment against them.
