Chairman Yigal Lahav of the Karnei Shomron Council has announced the withdrawal of his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Yesha Council of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria and his resignation from the council. Referring to the drafting of Chairman Hananel Dorani of the Kedumim Council to run against him, Lahav told the council, "I was informed by telephone by Hananel about the requests that were made for him to run against me - otherwise the elections will be boycotted by some of you. I did not imagine that the fear of the other would lead to such statements."

Lahav also cited "the dismal reality we encountered during the past two months, which culminated last night in the compartmentalization of some of the mayors in the vote, and continued in a shameful and offensive manner in today's statements in which the value of friendship and companionship has faded and turned into an inferior value." He concluded the council "does not want my presence."
